We get to work with a lot of great graduates, but it takes a special kid to make posing with a nine-pound rock look effortless. Taylor Byron, a senior at Churchill High School, possessed a delicate balance of natural beauty and athletic prowess. A state qualifier as a junior, Taylor took first in the regionals with a throw of 36-11 in addition to being the overall champ of the Kensington Lake Activities Association.
Living in Michigan, it’s rare to get such a perfect combination of weather and sunlight—what appears at nine a.m. to be a sunny cloudless day often turns overcast and gray by mid-afternoon. This October shoot made for lush grass coverage, golden highlights and a brilliant blue sky.
