Behind the scenes of what it’s like to be in front of our cameras.

The team calls me “The Mayor” because, no matter where we go, I’m lucky enough to bump into somebody I know. This phenomenon is due to being a teacher in the Livonia district for eleven years — along with being a basketball coach, track & field coach, ski club chaperone and yearbook administrator. Of course, being an all-around loudmouth doesn’t hurt either!
My favorite aspect of our business is capturing the personality of the students and athletes I’ve mentored over the years. In fact, I’ve been known to haul trampolines through Hines Park, wade knee-deep in rivers, crawl through drainage ditches and hang off the sides of buildings — all in an effort to “get the shot.”
When I’m not teaching, coaching, parenting, mountain biking, playing basketball or shooting photos I can be found at the St. Mary’s Emergency Room. I’m usually there getting something stitched or bandaged while the nurses try to convince me that I need to slow down and start acting my age.
I’m the scheduler, stylist and scene designer, but what I really want to be is team cook! I love going completely overboard with cakes, cupcakes and other sweets.
When I’m not playing quarterback (along with Janell) on infant and wedding shoots, I’m brewing up a storm on my blog Cherry Chip.
While the guys nerd-out on the technical details, I’m the one that reigns in the conversation and reminds them what the clients really want.
Also, without warning or reason, I will belt out any 80s sitcom theme song, in it’s entirety: You take the good, you take the bad, you take ’em both and there you have The Facts of Life…
I keep the Keberly machinery well-oiled: scouting locations, taking phone calls, coordinating schedules and shipping prints.
If you haven’t met me yet it’s because I’m hiding behind a gigantic umbrella or softbox while the guys shout out, “Set it to one-half! Gimme a little more wrap!” and other such nonsense. In fact, I think I’ve gotten sunburn from holding all the flashes, strobes and diffusers the past two years!
When I’m not scouting photo session locations, I’m a full-time teacher (7th Grade) and a full-time mother (Brynn, Logan, Russ) that loves curling up with a good book on her Kindle.
I’m the guy that coded and designed this website so I pretty much call the shots — those that disagree will get their email deleted! Seriously though, if I’m not behind a camera then I’m in front of a computer — and if I’m neither place then call the cops!
I’ve spent time shooting cover photos for Detroit’s legendary Metro Times, been featured on National Public Radio and published in books and newspapers around the world. Also, I’m incredibly humble. Accolades aside, my greatest joy comes from making images with my family.
We shoot everywhere from horse stables…
…to downtown Ann Arbor.
From grafitti covered alleys…
…to football stadiums.
And all places in between…
We shoot everything from your engagement…
…to those quiet pre-wedding jitters…
From the wedding ceremony…
…to the raucous reception…
…and all points in-between.
